i started this "blog' or whatever you want to call it on a whim of grand misguided delusions of grandeur. i obviously feel like anyone who's reading this either knows me in the slightest, or you've stumbled into my own little helpless word of ranting and raving and never really getting to the point of anything (see above). i'm that dude jeff and we'll start with the basic stats.
i'm 24 years old.
i'm white, jewish, and about 5'8".
my parents are still together after 33 years. my dad is a retired teacher. my mom works at an asshole dentist's office. my 1 brother (older), steve, is also a teacher. i think it's cool. he teaches calculus (?)
i wear glasses, and not for FASHION reasons only.
i live with my lovely girlfriend named karen who drives me to seek out better opportunities and pushes me to figure out all of the things i've avoided facing for a long fucking time.
i curse a lot.
i'm what some would consider an audiophile. i've figured out the optimal places in my apartment to set up speakers so i won't lose any bit of sound signal from anywhere in the apartment, save for the shower. i go through about 7 pairs of headphones a year. i have a collection of about 3,000 CD's and tapes and another 5 hundred vinyl records. i collect all of these with the money i should spend on food.
on that note, i should really eat more.
i eat food merely for survival, whereas karen eats for enjoyment.
i think the word "blog' is really not a good description for what's going on these days. they should be called "revolution pages" if only because i think collectively, we can change the state of affairs we all love to discuss changing. just put your thoughts into the keyboard and we'll see where it goes.
i like coffee with half n half and 1 equal packet.
i have much more fun at other people's expense than i should really admit.
i think music has never been the same since kurt died. it's way less honest. and yes, i do know enough about music to know that it's important to realize that even if you hate certain genres, appreciating them is absolutely necessary. for instance, i don't like contemporary country music or new age orchestrations, but it's creative expression all the same.
i work at a documentary production company in manhattan making cable documentaries that no one except for my parents watch.
i want to make a film that only i will like just for the sheer enjoyment of accomplishing something solely for me.
i am addicted to ian mackaye.
i don't drink a lot, much at all really.
i quit smoking 7 months ago.
i don't like when people congratulate me for the above "accomplishment".
my favorite lyric is from the song "teenage kicks" by the undertones: "Teenage dreams/ so hard to beat"
i use quotations "way too much".
i read as often as i can, but television will haunt my dreams if i try and avoid it.
i really want you to read this and tell me what you think. don't be afraid to tell me it sucks.
i will smack you if you tell me it sucks.
they'll get a lot prettier and cooler as the days go by.
okay, enough for the first post of many. later kids.
