Track: "With Snow" by Bullets Can't Kill Danny

Sometimes, I just WANT to like a band. Whether it's because they remind me of something majestic, they're underdogs who've been on the scene for years and years, or even if they're just nice to the culture of me. In the case of a group called Bullets Can't Kill Danny, it's quite obvious at listening to the track they submitted for review, it's the latter of those three.
I'm not going to sugar coat this. Bullets Can't Kill Danny is a hilarious band name that reeks of post-Y2K emo. These 3- or 4-word irony-filled band names are the new "The" something bands of the psychodelic 60s and 70s (note: just leaf through the booklet for Nuggets and you'll get my point). But more important that the sameness in name is the sameness in sound. Obviously brought up on post-grunge and the Empire Records and Can't Hardly Wait soundtracks, Bullets suffers because of their formula.
I like the rhythm section and the production work is certainly up to speed, but the vocals kill the culture of me. It's totally okay to harness your inner Sponge and Tom Waits/Scott Weiland-ey tone, but please don't lift it right out like you had no other choice. And stop fucking yelling. The lyric isn't important enough to shout about over and over for four minutes. Or is it?
