Photos: A Place to Bury Strangers and Man in Gray (CMJ, Saturday, The Delancey)

Oct 22, 07

So, we made a point recently that seeing The Cool Kids was the loudest part of CMJ for us this year.  Something about the treble hits in the monitors we sat right in front of, or something.  But it totally should have been one of these two bands for sure.  We went nearly deaf the last time we saw Man in Gray (in yet another basement setting, Brooklyn's Union Hall).  And we'd heard shuddering responses to people about that much touted recently Brooklyn-based band, A Place to Bury Strangers.  And while they wrecked our ears for a few hours after the show, it was nothing compared to the just broke news that Pfork had this morning.

This is obviously not to say that the show was not good.  In fact, it was quite the opposite.  We love Man in Gray, so they're never a surprise.  But APTBS are offically being given our seal of "don't ever miss this band if they're coming to your hood" approval.
