mp-FREE: Chris Garneau preps C-Sides. We have "Christmas Song"
Nov 27, 07
Chris Garneau looks an awful lot like Sufjan Stevens. And, not unlike every indie kid's favorite elder STATESmen (get it?), Mr. Garneau also comes from the school of harmonies, pop, intellect and grace. And, again not unlike Sufjan, the guy's totally been under our radar (admittedly) for quite some time.
The Brooklyn-by-way-of-Boston native (yet again making us feel terrible for not taking notice) released an epically wonderful record called Music for Tourists a while back. The album is equal parts beautiful arrangements and soul-crushing, near Rufus Wainwright-level melancholia. It's an easy comparison to make, since Garneau is gay and plays the piano, so that might be a bit too much pigeonholing for one person to handle, but we think it just fits. You know?
With all of that behind us now, we just wanted to tell you that Chris Garneau's newest EP, C-Sides, was just released yesterday. So, basically, we're saying you should go and find it at your earliest convenience (which, by our clock, is right now). To sate the masses, here's another about-to-be-compared-to-Sufjan device, an mp3 of "Christmas Song". Dig in.
(mp3) Christmas Song
Godspeed!
