Emerging: Thao with the Get Down Stay Down

Crush, crush, crush!  You've been warned guys.  We're totally behind the times with this emerging article, but whatever.  Finding little gems all over the Interweb is something that we'd like to consider a pastime, if it wasn't so goddamn addicting.  We find ourselves devouring all that we can find about the artists who pique even the slightest of our interests, usually causing a kind of over-examination and a ruining therein.

But not this time.  Not with Thao Nguyen and her band, The Get Down Stay Down.  Breezy overdubs of vocals and instrumentation, lyrics full of regular day romanticism and wonder, Thao's voice something of an unquivering Conor Oberst (think much younger) mixed with a not-hanging-off-the-ledge Fiona Apple.  These are the things that stand out in our minds as we listen along, trying ever so hard not to fall mesmerized and still by the subtle, almost too lilting songs.  The new record, We Brave Bee Stings And All, is out January 29 via Kill Rock Stars.

I love this band! I jut found her through my brother and his girlfriend. They'd gone to a concert and really liked them so they gave me a CD. Im soooo Glad! Since five days ago Im a big fan :)
