Emerging: The Spolkestra

May 12, 08

These are the members of Scotland avant-chamber-pop collective, The Spolkestra, in no particular order: Tone, Bourge, Sio, Boru, Col, Nat, Grace, Emily, Jackeroo, Cat Price, Amy Moar, King Hal, Caz Bleiman, Mike, Anne, Sam, Jordan, Brendan.  If those names don't instantly make you want to hear what they're all about (especially the comic book-esque King Hal and his sidekick Jackeroo), we don't know what will.  Maybe knowing that they sound completely infectious and 100% sincere will do the trick.

The group have an EP out now for purchase called Open Arms.  And we think it's a promising hot mess.  Not a hot mess in the Christian Siriano kind of way, mind you.  This track that we have, "SOIL", is full of glee and wonder, breaking points and build-ups.  Massive potential coming out of these guys.  We like it a lot.  We think you will too.  That's probably why we stuck the "emerging" label on this band, right?
