Live: The Secret History sign deal; celebrate Mondo's 4th anniversary
May 16, 08

A few years ago, this unbelievably long-running yet sort-of smalltime band called My Favorite broke up. They were totally legendary to anyone who knew anything about them (and that number kept increasing, as the band was in existence for over a decade after all), but in the grand scheme of things turned out to be an awesome hipster bonus point in reference. On the day of the last broadcast for My Favorite, lead Michael Grace Jr. said:
If I've learned anything from all this, it is that one should never hold back, or be frightened of, that which is in one's heart. Die with your boots on. Live with your boots on. The spaces around us are our sacred battlefield. Strike boldly, but strike only for Love. That's what The Secret History will be.
So then there was The Secret History. And three years running along this new path has led inevitably to the deal the band inked with Le Grand Magistery and the promise of release for their long-awaited EP, Desolation Town. Grace, Jr. has hinted at the band's continued work towards a full-length sometime in the next year, even making reference to some tweaks and redoing of what became the last recordings of My Favorite, once thought never to see the light of our day.
Oh yeah, and all of this primer is to set up the fact that The Secret History will be rocking Don Hill's tonight, in honor of the passing of the fourth year in the existence of the indie pop party known simply as Mondo. The band take the stage at midnight, details as follows:
511 Greenwich Street (at Spring St)
$5 Cover - Reduced w Flyer or Invite!
21 and over
11:30 pm to 4 am
Also, er, of note is the simple fact that The Secret History has Lisa Ronson as a member, daughter to guitar god and Bowie collaborator Mick Ronson. Though this should not take precedent over the group's sound.
