News: Gag order placed on media for R. Kelly trial

May 18, 08

After finally finding a dozen people who have yet to (apparently) hear stories about how R. Kelly (allegedly) had rampant sexual acts with an underage female fan, the Associated Press is now reporting that the judge in the case has refused to allow court documents or anything pertaining to the proceedings to be accessed by the media.  Dudes, "Extra" and "Access Hollywood" are probably totally pissed.

A judge has denied a motion from news organizations seeking immediate access to sealed court records and transcripts in the R. Kelly child pornography trial.

Judge Vincent Gaughan also refused to lift a gag order forbidding attorneys to talk about the case.

The judge says he's not trying to inhibit the press. But he says the time isn't right to release the information and keeping it secret is the only way to guarantee a fair trial.

Also, how is this just a child pornography case?  That's fucked up.
