Emerging: Lady GaGa

If you happen to frequent this site at all (you know who you are), you've probably seen the Google-produced ads toting New York's hottest theatrical-pop artist, Lady GaGa. We decided to stop staring at it saying "Wtf?" and searched around. We are totally glad we did, because we haven't found a more inventive electro pop artist since the days of Larry Tee's electroclash. GaGa is a 22-year former private school colleague to Paris & Nicky and former songwriter for Interscope records (they now have her on their artist roster). She boasts and she coos on her debut record, The Fame, all full-on with intent to take over the world. Mixing the fashion-keen eye of post-apocalyptic Helmet Newton-meets-Snake Plissken couture with the ooh's and aah's of some other femme fatales like Kylie Minogue and Princess Superstar, what' s most arresting about Lady GaGa is her unequivocal attitude towards ruling the world, saying she's going to do it "one sequin at a time". It's fun, sexy, completely sexual and terribly easy to dance to. So go on then. Get your feet moving.
