Emerging: Little Pictures

New Zealand indie poppers Little Pictures are Johanna Freeman ("Y" not "J") and Mark Turner.  They are in love with electronics, pop culture, harmony and each other.  The duo (Johanna had never been in a band nor sung in public prior to Little Pictures) are self-proclaimed nerds who do all sorts of what they call "cultural sampling" to create some of the most inspiring, self-aware and genius melodies we've heard all year.  It's so addictive and rudimentary that we kind of hate the fact that we hadn't ever heard of them before.  We love love love the fact that these two seem to be smiling through the speakers as we listen, and, well, who doesn't like that?  If you're not selling these guys to your friends by this tomorrow, we'll seriously have no idea why.
