mp-FREE: new Mogwai - "The Sun Smells Too Loud"

Get psyched for your post-rock anthem of the summertime kids. Mogwai are back and, rather than go with the abrasively loud and incredibly fierce motif of earlier records (like, say, Young Team, a record that just saw reissue in May), the Glasgow group has stuck to their guns of their previous LP, Mr. Beast, which favored much more concise, nearly constrictive songs. This track, from the upcoming LP, The Hawk Is Howling, is sunny and lilting, a shear bit of near-Broken Social Scene guitar and synth pop. The Hawk Is Howling is out September 23. The band are playing tons of festivals and the UK this summer, but we've got new dates for the kids from the good ole US of A.
