Benji Hughes, a North Carolinian with a beard and a belly (both of which are so excellent they're a force to be reckoned with) is a healthy smoothie of 1 part early Beck, 1 part art school dropout, 1 part in-on-the-joke irony and a dash of overarching awesomeness.  Backed by minimal beats and rampant samples, Hughes tells the tales of the common man: parties, drinking, sweating, girl trouble, love, magic, etc.  His new, 2-disc set called A Love Supreme (out now via New West) is such epic nofuckery that it should be all over the headphones and DJ tables of your nearest coolhunters without you even knowing it.
