mp-FREE: from the ashes of The Blood Brothers
Aug 06, 08

When esteemed decade-or-so running behemoth The Blood Brothers called it quits last year, we erupted in sadness. It was like when you're a kid and your dog dies, only the dog didn't die per se, it just sort of stopped licking your face or something. Okay, bad analogy, but we're stoked like mad about the two (!) bands that have stemmed from the dissolve of the group. Like At The Drive-In before them, The Blood Brothers split and subsequent bands will certainly have their fair share of loyal fans for one and only one group, but for us, both of these acts deserve your ears (and hard-earned cash).
Jordan Blilie, Morgan Henderson, and Mark Gajadhar became Past Lives, joining with guitarist Devin Welsh. The band will be releasing their first EP, Strange Symmetry, on November 4. Johnny Whitney and Cody Votolato formed Jaguar Love with former Pretty Girls Make Graves guitarist J Clark. That band will see an August 19 release of their first full length, Take Me to the Sea.
