News: Ponytail record Daytrotter session
Nov 09, 08

Throw out every conception of music you ever had that had to do with pigeonholed genre classification or boundaries of any kind, because when you talk about a group like Ponytail, there's no way to best talk of them. They are enigmas, exceptions to most rules. They are a Baltimore thunderstorm that doesn't quit in a day. It follows you, beating at your heart and mind and soul. Ponytail make you think all sorts of "holy shit"s and "oh my god"s and you begin to see what your whole person feels like when you only react with smiles, nods and laughs. Here's what the kids had to say about doing an all-acoustic session for the venerable Daytrotter:
"At the beginning of our USA tour with High Places we were lucky enough to record a few songs in Quad City with the lovely Daytrotter. Their studio and attitudes blew our minds, and we felt a challenge formulating in our minds. Do it acoustic and do it live! Michael set up a simple stereo image and one in a piano just for fun, we positioned ourselves varying distances from the mics to control our volume, we made some mistakes, but I think that's ok, the energy and spirit make the imperfections more perfect! right?"
