R.I.P.: Frank Navetta (Descendents)

It's with deep sadness that we have to break the news that founding member of Descendents, Frank Navetta, passed away on Halloween, October 31. Navetta was a founding member of the band (alongside Bill Stevenson and Tony Lombardo) in 1978. The cause of death was from apparent complications due to an illness that took Navetta's life in only a few days. We don't have more information other than that at this time, but Descendents released this brief statement:
We're very sorry to announce that founding member of The Descendents, and close friend Frank Navetta passed away on October 31, 2008 after becoming ill over the course of a few days. This is obviously a huge loss for the Descendents family. His contribution to the band, and to music in general can not be overstated. Frank will be truly missed. We will share information about memorial services when we find out.
