Messing with one of the biggest dance singles in the history of recorded music is usually a gigantic no-no for any remixer who's worth his/her spit. But Phoenix-bred Death To The Throne (who we're totally jocking as of late) just doesn't care all too much it seems, as he's gone and spliced up the 1983 smash "Let The Music Play", a track by Shannon which rocketed to number one on the US dance tracks and is still in the arsenal of every vinyl jockey around. The remix is itself a conundrum for us as we can't really "see" it, you know? The single is still such a wonderful track on its own that taking it to task in remix form almost feels too forced. But that's not to say, from a removed viewpoint, it isn't good. Because it is. It stays on the same foundation of 80s electronic pop music, so the formula remains. But the twitches and clicks and delays are new and all welcomed.
