Photos: The Golden Filter make their US debut
Feb 01, 09
In what's become one of the best mysteries in the electro world over the last nine months or so, the identity-hiding disco pop group The Golden Filter have been able to catch the attention of much of the blogosphere without even a bio. Solely resting on the laurels of infectious, sugar-synth and drums pop music, the trio have been Internet sweethearts, but up until Friday's show at Le Poisson Rouge in New York, hadn't had a proper US debut. We've known all along who was behind the curtain, but we vowed not to tell, and, well, we're still keeping to it.
But with a line-up of like minded frontier-pushers like Philly's Manchester-circa-1982 Pink Skull and New York's own thrashy sensation HEARTSREVOLUTION as support, The Golden Filter took to the stage and plowed through a set of sultry tracks with tons of effects, machine gun drums (and live ones too) and sweaty synth lines, making the kids shake and pop. All things go.
