World Premiere: Your Twenties - "Gold"
Mar 06, 09

Somewhere between the black of angular post-punk and the white of subtle, dreamy indie pop lies the grey area that the London band Your Twenties inhabit. The band, just for your own bullet-pointed reference, features Gabriel Stebbing of Metronomy. The guys also have a supreme literacy of their pop music forebearers and influences while not creating anything near a crib sheet from any of them. They've released and re-pressed their first single, "Caught Wheel", and have even shot a glorious bedroom video for it that features the band, a record player and a cat. "Gold", a shining track that rests on plodding drums and bass, sky-soaring keyboard choruses and reverbed guitar accents, is at the tops when everything falls to the wayside for the sake of the band's vocal harmonies.
