No lies here, but the turn that Bloc Party have been making since the interim between their smashing debut filled with angular indie rock, Silent Alarm, and the rest of their catalog has always been seen by us with somewhat of a grimace. We loved A Weekend In The City for its concept and style shifts and the diversity with which the band handled its content. We're still sort of in the middle though about how we've handled Intimacy.

But the release of the band's fourth disc is imminent, and if we are all to be clued in to what it's going to be like by the hinting new single "One More Chance", there's even more experimenting to be had and we're somewhat convinced that the direction the boys are setting a course for will be on a wavelength unlike this turn. Hopefully in sonics as well as in appreciation, considering the diminishing returns they've been receiving in each subsequent release.

To jump-start that, Alex Metric has taken on "One More Chance" with a remix treatment that makes it seem like the new record will lend itself to more interpretation by both fans and contemporaries alike than the previous couplet of discs (have you even heard positive remarks about Intimacy Remixed?). Ripping it up and starting again--with piano coda intact--Metric does his best and to our ears, his edit is a summer 2009 must-have track.
