Getting Sassy with...Drums Of Death

Jul 01, 09

We here around THE CULTURE OF ME were once obsessed with all things relating to Sassy and Dirt magazines. And while those titles are long gone, the sentiment of how they covered the culture industries has indeed left its mark on writers and culture vultures everywhere. It is because of that influence that we are proud to present our features post, "Getting Sassy with...", wherein we bring you that much closer to your favorite bands by way of a simple Q&A session that's both painless and informative. Ha! Beat that, FOX News!

This time: Drums Of Death.

Let's be clear about one thing: Drums Of Death is not the alter ego of British Isles-based Colin Bailey. In fact, to be 100% accurate, it's the other way around. To fit into our world--while not inhabiting the freakish voodoo demonic plague realm that DOD lives, breathes and destroys in--the form of Colin Bailey had to have been created. Bailey's face isn't painted black and white to create Drums Of Death, Drums Of Death's face has to be painted flesh-toned to create the nice-guy-Eddie human version of his being. Enough about persona though, because the true story about Drums Of Death lies in his presence, the nevereverending tribal beat manifestos and shrieking, jumping, pulsing, flailing, improvised explosive devices aka songs. We sent off our questionnaire and, fittingly, Colin answered back because, well, who wants to let anyone in on the world only they inhabit? Why not just toy with the process just a little more?
