Video: Mannequin Men - "Cream Rises"

Aug 27, 09

Remember that George Michael clip for "Freedom! '90" where the tune was sung not by the artist himself by lip synced by the unbearably gorgeous supermodels from the late 80s and early 90s? Well, we do. And we think that Mannequin Men must as well, because in the new video for their ripping indie punk rock track "Cream Rises", they seem to enlist the help not from supermodels, per se, but maybe the equivalent here in 2009: some members of the Suicide Girls army, all drinking and sweating and writhing, all of course verbs that are completely okay by us. This is Chicago punk rock and so, of course, the video should be just as much "Chicago" and "punk rock" as the band itself is. Success? We couldn't think otherwise. Swagger, piss, grit, blood, attitude, adrenaline. All components of a strange, yet enticingly sinister brew. Lose Your Illusion, Too is out now.
