Video: The Cribs - "Cheat On Me"

The brothers Jarman and newly minted member Johnny Marr are back September 7 with their newest record, the fourth LP from The Cribs, Ignore The Ignorant. "Cheat On Me" clearly exhibits Marr's influence on the band, cleaning up their angular attack with jangled guitar parts and slowed-up progressions that take the boys from the garage glean and into the realm of pure pop exuberance. The clip, while low key and performance-based, is less sweaty than they're live shows have ever been and Marr's guitar strums are exaggerated in delivery, and the band happens to be enveloped by the most chintzy backdrop ever. Ignore The Ignorant's opening track, though, "We Were Aborted", is a sign that the album has it's moments of blissful Wakefield standards.
