If you were to listen to the single version of "Runaround", the maxi-single that Del Marquis (of Scissor Sisters) is releasing next week via iTunes, and close your eyes you'd be transported all the way back to the glammy, sleazy new wave year of 1984 and the months between Frankie Goes To Hollywood's second and third singles, "Two Tribes" and "The Power Of Love". That considered, though, the single has more to it than an anti-war or love-only agenda, mashing the best bits of Marquis's other group with a decidedly more electro pop angle where there isn't a send-up of an Elton John arrangement in sight. And yet, here we have a remix treatment from Baron Von Luxxury, an artist whose more-educated-than-thou approach to production is always a superb thing to experience, mixing the seedier aspect of disco and the uplifting angle of the last 30 years of dance music to create a working mix of "Runaround" that just keeps building and charging along with staccato energy and endless drum hits.
