It was at first a rather bitter pill to swallow. The news that seeped out of Justin Pearson's camp that he and Nathan Joyner--both San Diego grindcore godfathers and both current members of All Leather--had formed a side project of sorts, a production-based Leg Lifters unit that set out to, what, remix tracks? Maybe even make songs you could, gulp, dance to?
But our initial hand-raising was calmed when we had first begun to hear the substance that was emanating from their loins shaped up in edits and treatments that were just as beefy and throbbing as their roots would imply in the leaves and stems, not to mention the fact that since April they've been putting out mixtapes via their MySpace page and have proven their case for making menacing, joyfully dangerous, sometimes maddening displays of creative output with divine tracks (remember that "30s is the new 20s" edit of Sunshine or the "21st Century Digital Boy" reboot?) and now they seem deserving of further accolades for cementing themselves into our psyche. With two new remixes, the above-mentioned "Get Seduced" from The Faint and "Body Armageddon" by Oakland's Hawnay Troof, JP and Nathan have got us entranced in vision quests and wobbly daydreams, vicious nightmares and half-remembered adventures. So, pretty rad shit stuff, to boil it down nicely.
