Download: The Joy Formidable - "Greyhounds In The Slips" + tons of news
Sep 10, 09
Fans of The Joy Formidable may be quickly taken aback by their new single and video for "Greyhounds In The Slips", as it's the first time that the trio's vocal duties are shared. Frontwoman Ritzy goes verse to verse with the band's friend Paul Draper (formerly of Mansun), yet since the track still comes from the camp of TJF, it's still resounding in tone and tempo, fabulously washed in noise and distortion and running full-steam-ahead from the first chord to the last second of feedback.
The band, who have been recording songs for a new album for a bit now, have also kept busy touring and playing everywhere they can live. To both those ends, Ritzy and her boys have decided that their upcoming gig at the Garage in London (where they'll take the stage on September 30) would be a great venue to record a live album, which they're already calling First You Have To Get Mad. They'll be releasing the record on November 16 but you can already pre-order a copy--only 500 of which will be pressed.
The trio, in yet more news, will be spending the next few months playing with some pretty high-profile acts, supporting both Passion Pit and Editors on each group's British Isles dates and heading out all over Europe with The Temper Trap.
