Kings and queens of heavy bass and dark electro noise rejoiced this past Wednesday night as dubstep pioneer/producer Caspa from Londontown swooped into New York to play the Cut NYC party at Le Poisson Rouge alongside Trouble & Bass matriarch Star Eyes and with the heaping help of the toastmaster MC Roda Azlan. The party was dark and smoky, full of blistering basslines and piercing light with a crowd--of note the fact that a huge percentage of kids had x'ed out hands for being underage--that was as sweaty as they were ecstatic. Azlan did a ton of MCing and Cut's Shark played hype-man to Star Eyes's set and both DJs maintained the distinctive wobble of dubstep and epic bass that's seriously catching fire all over the place these days. It was dark, dense and totally, unreasonably decent.
