Download: Michael Meds - "Fireworks"
Nov 04, 09

After listening to this new track from Michael Meds, Brooklyn house producer/resident of one of the best parties in the city, 66Sick, we couldn't really think hard enough to come up with a better description for it than the one he had already come up with--fittingly, "big room house type stuff". Meds has been working on an EP of original material for release and with titles like "Fireworks" and "Explosions", you can fairly easily catch his drift. The guy puts in capital-W work on his productions, with a litany of great remixes for the likes of Drop The Lime, "You've Changed" from Lauren Flax and Sia and Cubic Zirconia's summer anthem "Fuck Work". This song, "Fireworks", is strictly aiming for as big a room as you can imagine, soaring melodiously off of walls and ceilings, banging off of the dancefloor and going higher, higher, higher. It starts off building on a steady 4/4 and adds elements as it goes through the motions, with breakdowns and rebuilds, like any good made-for-the-club track would do. There's an interesting moment near the four-minute mark where the payoff is hesitant and held off that totally got us guessing, which Meds must've really enjoyed anticipating when he was writing the track.
