Live: Richard Lloyd (Television) plays with his new group next week in NYC

Nov 03, 09

How's this for a supergroup? Former Television guitarist Richard Lloyd and his new band, The Richard Lloyd Group, brings the guitarist into the fold with bassist Danny Tamberelli (the guy who played Little Pete on Nickelodeon's "The Adventures of Pete & Pete") and Dictators drummer JP Patterson. The band, in as rare an occasion as possible, are set to headline a special event at The Studio at Webster Hall on Thursday, November 12. Lloyd is supporting his album The Jaime Neverts Story, a collection of cover versions of Jim Hendrix songs where the punk godfather instilled a number of amazingly terse rules: "No more than three guitars on any track. No effects pedals, no fuzz box, no Octavia, no wah wah pedal, no feedback, nothing backwards. Just Stratocaster guitars into Supro and Magnatone amplifiers". The group will be joined by Hey Battlefield. Tickets are $10 in advance here and $12 the day of the show.
