So we're totally into trying new things over here at the culture of me (and no, lovely girlfriend Karen...that still doesn't include Indian or K-town food), so that dude jeff has decided that rather than foolishly attempting to tackle the new Voxtrot record all by hisself, he called in a favor from his dear friend Jessica, who not only gushes about Voxtrot, but is also just as clear and concise with her tastes. She'll also be seen at the upcoming Webster Hall show, hands in the air and feet a-stomping.
Copied below is our rather quick back-and-forth about the merits of the new LP, Voxtrot, Pitchfork and gangbangs.
Enjoy!
AIM IM with jessica.

that dude jeff: So yeah. Voxtrot, eh?
jessica: Oh my god. "Ghost" is my heart.
that dude jeff: I feel sort of torn up about this record. I mean. I love love love the 2 EPs they put out recently....but Iâm not really 110% behind this one.
jessica: Oh man, we are going to have to agree to disagree on this. Because here is it.
that dude jeff: Ha!
jessica: They took a different approach in my mind. While this is not the same exact things I love about "The Start of Something" it seems like a natural place to go
that dude jeff: I am with you on that. I like the new direction for sure, but I almost felt like the urgency on the record was a little indicative of the urgency to put a record like this out...
jessica: I mean, I could love them forever if they kept making songs like "The Start of Something".
that dude jeff: You know?
1:15 PM
jessica: Well, yes, but they were a bit pressured don't you think?
that dude jeff: Sure sure
jessica: I mean, it was TIME for a full length.
that dude jeff: Leaks are nothing short of a bitch to a band like Voxtrot too.
jessica: With Pitchfork[media] making them their darlings and such.
that dude jeff: Go figure. If it sounds like "hatful of hollow", Pitchfork is down like mad.
jessica: I mean, Pitchfork is full of shit in most things. I mean, their tastes differ from mine. LOL
that dude jeff: But I am totally in love with "Firecracker" as the anthem of Spring so far. I mean, once everyone hears it, that is. But I think this record is going to be my Alligator for this year. It takes a while for me to have it sink down and deep...but once it does...oh man.
jessica: Yeah, I can feel that I will listen to it all the time and I think it might get better with more listening but I went into it wanting to love it.
that dude jeff: Right.
jessica: There seems to be a bit more bitter edge to the songwriting as well.
that dude jeff: Well, that's Ramesh. I think if you map that blog of his along with the recording of this record...
1:20 PM
jessica: Oh yes. Agreed.
that dude jeff: I think this one post...It's totally stuck with me. I feel like this sort of humble band needs more than just "blogger praise".
jessica: Yeah, I think I might be in love with them. All of them.
that dude jeff: I hope the critics love this record, but in the end...
jessica: Perhaps the second band I would allow to gangbang me (Ed. note: the first band is Man Man). LOL
that dude jeff: They don't really matter. The critics, I mean. I can't wait to see the thousands of kids who put "Easy" on their next mixtapes.
jessica: Oh man. For real. OK, I have to go get my friend. I will talk to you laters...we can discuss more.
that dude jeff: Thanks for doing this kinda thing.
jessica: This weekend: Saturday?
that dude jeff: It's going on the site for sure.
jessica: Dan Deacon show? or maybe just chill out fun?
that dude jeff: I can't this weekend.
1:25 PM
jessica: It was fun. We will do it again.
that dude jeff: Mother's Day up in the 'burbs for me.
jessica: OK. Is everything okay?
jessica: Oh right.
that dude jeff: Right.
jessica: Ta ta.

that dude jeff: Later.
