Live: Brooklyn invades LA this Saturday at TILT & Binary

Jul 13, 09

Coming this Saturday night to The Echoplex in Los Angeles, Brooklyn, NY kings and queens. Featuring the special guest appearances of MEN, Dances With White Girls and Flashmen as well as locals Hey Willpower and Lexicondon, it's going to get housey, funky and ridiculously, intensely fun. Also, maybe a little bit political (after all, MEN did stem from aggro-ladies Le Tigre). For a mere ten bucks, you and your 18+ friends can all come get your faces melted with the help of the kids from Tilt & Binary. RSVP/more info here.

Live: Burns makes US debut this week in NYC

Jul 12, 09

A UK electro-house talent whose been building up a ton of heat in the past few months with sweaty, anthemic originals and even bigger-arena remixes (like the bananas new edit for The Gossip's "Heavy Cross"), Burns comes to the US for the first time this week, appearing at the head of a really great Scion-curated night at NYC's Plan B venue. It's going to be a rad night, and considering it's free, one that no one in Gotham should miss. Burns is releasing four singles this year with an expected full length disc in 2010.

Deets:

Burns
Nosaj Thing
Cubic Zirconia
Franki Chan
Blu Jemz

Plan B
339 E. 10th Street (corner of Ave. B)

Live: Brooklyn Electronic Music Festival (BEMF) returns; finalizes line-up

Jul 10, 09

The all-day juggernaut now in its second annual volume, BEMF, is back with a line-up that scares the ever-loving-existence out of us, some rad toss-ins to sweeten everyone's minds and a very secretive ploy. Happening this year at The Old American Can Factory, BEMF is helmed once again by Famous Friends, the golden ticket-possessing trio of DJs and promoters that brought you the nine-hour inaugural event last year. But this, well, it's 33% longer. Yup, 4pm until 4am. And it's got two stages, doubling last year. And two hours of PBR open bar (4pm - 6pm). We're sort of losing our minds over the list of acts they've been able to secure, like (tip of the proverbial iceberg here) The Juan Maclean, Adventure, Viking, NROTB and Awesome New Republic, but we don't think anyone in their right mindset could argue that this isn't the best line-up of independent music acts of the summer.

About that secret? Famous Friends will be announcing a very special surprise guest headliner via twitter on the day of the show. Follow them on Twitter to receive the latest news in advance. Advance tickets are $25 and can be purchased now. RJD2 will not be performing as previously announced.

Full line-up after the jump.

Live: The Get Up Kids announce a full fall tour

Jul 08, 09

Reuniting last November for a show at Record Bar in Kansas City and then following that with terrifically sold out shows in New York, LA and San Francisco, The Get Up Kids (110% one of our favorite bands ever) have just announced a full fall line-up of tour dates, all of which are going up for sale tomorrow. And right before the tour, on September 8, the band will mark the 10-year anniversary of their amazing LP, Something To Write Home About, with a reissue CD/DVD version of the album. The DVD portion of the package features the full live performance the guys played in March of this year in the Lawrence, KS venue Liberty Hall.

Full tour dates after the jump.
