Web: NPR posts entire Moby concert from Berlin
Oct 15, 09

NPR has just released this near-two-hour set from Moby, probably the most important person in techno music in the early 1990s and one of the more important figures in pop music as a whole in the last ten or so years, recorded live in Berlin at a concert on his Wait For Me world tour back in June of this year, which ensconces material from the electronic music icon's library of albums (more than a few are represented here) over the course of twenty-one tracks and various emotional highs, lows and the in-betweens. It's been ten years since the mass-appeal breaking point of Play and nearly twenty years since he first arose out of the nothingness of Connecticut with his second single, "Go", and yet, as this live recording shows, not one of these songs seems out of place even today. These are beloved songs from a beloved artist, someone who continues to explore his own space and who doesn't stop embarking on treks into uncharted territories. And that's just one of the reasons why he's still so well-received and well-respected. He's also proven time and again that he knows how to write a fat pop hook, too, so there's that.
